April Update: 2026 Budget Public Hearing Monday + Executive Director Search
The YVRTA Board meets Monday, April 27 from 4-6 p.m. at Hayden Town Hall (178 West Jefferson Avenue) and online via Zoom. It's a full agenda: highlights include a public hearing and adoption of the 2026 budget, a review of service goals and funding mechanisms, an update from the committee leading the executive director search, and early discussion of a YVRTA Board retreat. We encourage you to listen in.

YVRTA Establishes Executive Director Hiring Committee
The Board has formed a four-member hiring committee including Steamboat Springs City Councilor John Agosta, Hayden Mayor Ryan Banks, and Steamboat Springs Transit Manager Jonathan Flint. A fourth regional transportation expert may join later in the process.
If you know anyone with relevant transit experience or expertise, please encourage them to connect and share input to help shape the RTA's first and most critical leadership hire.

A Transit Career Comes Full Circle
Johnny Walker recently retired after 56 years in the driver's seat, starting in Washington D.C. at 20 and spending 38 years with Steamboat Springs schools. He was one of two drivers who launched Steamboat's free bus program in the early 1970s. A big thank you to Johnny for decades of safe, reliable service to our community.
Steamboat Springs Transit Summer Service Launches April 13
As spring arrives, SST rolls out expanded summer schedules: Main Line service every 15 minutes without transfers, Night Line every 20 minutes (8 p.m.-11:30 p.m.), and two daily round trips between Steamboat Springs and Craig. All buses feature bike racks and real-time tracking. "Hop aboard and leave the driving to us again this summer."

Exciting transit and rail developments are happening across Colorado. The "Colorado Connector" now has a path forward with this tentative agreement between the state and BNSF.
